We have enjoyed a good few days both here and over in France starting off with LAURENS racecourse debut being a winning one at Doncaster. The imposing daughter of Siyouni was snapped up by owner John Dance at the Goffs Uk yearling sales for £220,000 and expectations were high for her debut. She didn't disappoint and travelled smoothly through the race to then draw clear in the final furlong under a hands and heels ride from PJ McDonald with the eventual second running on well close home.
BEATBOX RHYTHM nearly made it a double on the day for owner John Dance but got a bit tired on the softer going and finished second after making the running also on his debut, he will have learnt a lot from this and should come on a bundle.
UNFORTUNATELY a colt who on his last two starts has gone down by a neck turned it around wearing first time visors and made his first attempt in Group company a winning one when scoring by half a length in the Prix Robert Papin at Maisons Laffitte in France. The rules are very strict in France and as he waved off a straight line in the final furlong which caused a French trained horse slight interference the French are objecting to the decision made by the stewards on the day that awarded us to keep the race and placings to remain unaltered so we are awaiting news to whether we keep the race after the objection. It would be a huge disappointment to loose a prestigious Group 2 race when he was clearly the best horse on the day and was galloping away through the line. He may now head to the Prix Morny back in France or Glorious Goodwood.
LONDON PROTOCOL a regular visitor to France scored in the Conditions race at Compiegne under Tony Piccone making that his second win in France and as he is French bred he also picked up the brilliant French premiums on offer.
MY BOY HENRY a two year old colt by Footstepsinthesand stepped up to seven furlongs for his second racecourse outing up in Scotland at Musselburgh ridden by Clifford Lee, he settled behind the leaders and once pulled out ran on strongly to score by over a length.
For Stable staff week we had a team BBQ at the yard organised by senior member of Staff Mark Simms and Angus Johnston supplied the entertainment with his singing and guitar which went down a treat! We have a great team of staff and it was nice to enjoy a night all together.
